Mrs. Hoshino's 6th grade class recently created these masks as they researched and learned more about Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Masks like these are a way of honoring those who have passed on. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where the day is a holiday. The celebration takes place on October 31, November 1 and November 2.
