Welcome to Second Grade!

My name is Mrs. Yang and I am looking forward to a great year in second grade!

P.E. is Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.  Please make sure you wear shoes that are appropriate for physical activity on these days.

Writer's Workshop

We are starting the year focusing on personal narrative writing - true stories about our own experiences. Students will pick the topic that they want to write about while applying the mini-lessons from Writer's Workshop.  Mini-lessons from this genre include: brainstorming story ideas, ways to start a story, illustrating our stories to match our writing, sounding out words, using resources to help us spell, using "sound words in our writing," and making sure our personal narratives have a beginning, middle, and end - all while going through the elements of the writing process.

1. Prewriting

2. Rough Draft

3. Revising

4. Editing

5. Publishing
